Excessive drug usage during her biological mother’s pregnancy caused Matti Rooks to be born with three fingers on each hand, two toes on each foot, a cleft palette, cleft lip, no sweat glands, no tear ducts, nearly blind, and hearing impaired. In addition to all of these disabilities, Matti was also sexually abused growing up in an unstable home, and experienced a great deal of bullying in school.

Today, Matti has overcome these countless challenges, and inspires students and adults across Texas and Oklahoma with her inspirational, one-of-a-kind story. She has been adopted by a loving foster family from Johnson County, Texas, and now lives in a stable home with eight brothers and seven sisters. Over the years, Matti’s hearing and vision has improved, allowing her to obtain her driver’s license. She currently attends a public high school, and speaks in schools across the state. She loves meeting new people and spending time with her family.
